Oakley wanted the Abandon to be as lustrous as possible, and in doing so gave it an 8.75 base lens curve that extends peripheral vision and improves side protection. The lens is formed from pure plutonite that filters out 100percent of harmful ultra violet rays and therefore eliminates squinting and the optical performance of these sunglasses exceeds ANSI Z80.3 standards. These sunglasses are also offered with Polarised lenses as an option; eradicating reflective glares without corrupting your vision whatsoever. In addition, a gradient lens is also available with this frame.
With the concentration focused on high definition optics, the frames absolutely had to match the lenses values and therefore are impact resistant, meeting ANSI Z87.1 basic standards. Oakley has ensured that the Abandon is a comfortable piece of eyewear; they have used geometry to devise a frame that is specifically designed for women and their face shapes. Oakley work on a 3 point fit principle which entails comfortable and snug fitting at the 3 main points that the sunglasses and the face make contact, i.e. the bridge of the nose and at either side of the head. This 3 point fit ensures the sunglasses stay fixed to the face so that during sporting activity, the sunglasses will not hinder your performance.
